Terms of Enrolment and Website Use

Version 1.1 · Last updated 12 August 2026 · Next review 12 February 2027

These terms apply when you use this website, download our curriculum, or enrol in a Celegant Braiding Academy program.

Please read this before you read anything else. These terms are written in good faith and in plain English, to the standard normally used by training providers in Canada. They are not legal advice, and they are pending review by a lawyer. If any part of this matters to your decision, phone (587) 873-9331 and we will confirm it in writing before you pay anything.

1. Who you are contracting with

Celegant Braiding Academy is registered in Alberta. We share the premises at Unit 316, the people and the standards with Celegant Hair Edmonton and Celegant Beauty.

Registration details are available on request.

In these terms, we, us and the Academy mean Celegant Braiding Academy. You means the person enrolling. If an employer or a grant is paying for your place, section 13 explains how that changes things.

2. What these terms cover

These are the general terms. Six other documents sit underneath them and form part of them. Read the ones that apply to you.

If something in one of those documents contradicts something here, the more specific document wins on its own subject.

3. Using this website

You may read, print and share our pages for your own use. You may not copy our curriculum, course materials or written content for commercial use, republish them, or use them to run competing training. You may not scrape the site, attempt to break it, or use it to send unsolicited messages.

4. Accuracy of what is on this site

We work hard to keep this site accurate. Program details, schedules, intake dates and pricing can change. Where a page carries a visible marker saying something is still to be confirmed, that means we do not have a confirmed answer yet and are saying so rather than guessing.

Nothing on this site is an offer capable of acceptance. A contract is formed only when we confirm your place in writing.

5. Who can enrol

  • 18 and over. You can enrol and attend on your own.
  • 16 and 17. You can enrol if a parent or legal guardian signs the enrolment confirmation, the health declaration and the waiver, and can be reached by phone during class hours.
  • Under 16. We do not accept enrolments.

The Foundations Intensive has no prerequisite and is built for complete beginners. The specialty certifications are open to anyone with enough hand skill to keep up, whether or not they took Foundations with us. Classes are taught in English.

We may decline an enrolment. If we do, we refund everything you have paid, in full, and we tell you why.

6. Enrolment and payment

  • There is no deposit. You either pay in full, or you use the instalment option below.
  • Prices are in Canadian dollars and include GST. The price on the program page is the price you pay. There is no tax added at checkout.
  • Your place is confirmed when we confirm it in writing and your payment, or your first instalment, has cleared. Not before.
  • Payment is processed by Square. We never see or store your card details. Square’s own terms apply to the transaction.
  • Early-bird places are allocated in the order payments clear, not in the order enquiries arrive.
  • Your place is personal to you. Section 5 of the refunds policy explains the one situation in which you can pass it to someone else.

Paying in instalments

Square offers Afterpay at checkout: four interest-free instalments, paid every two weeks. Three things you should understand before you choose it.

  1. The instalment agreement is between you and Afterpay, not between you and us. Afterpay decides whether to approve you. We have no part in that decision and cannot overturn it.
  2. We are paid in full at the point of sale. From our side the tuition is settled on day one, whichever option you choose.
  3. You keep paying Afterpay even if you withdraw. Any refund we owe you goes back through Square to Afterpay, which then reduces or clears what is left on your plan. Late fees charged by Afterpay are between you and Afterpay. See section 8 of the refunds policy.

7. Cooling-off, refunds and transfers

You have 10 calendar days from the date we confirm your place in writing to change your mind and get everything back, with no fee and no questions. If you enrol fewer than 10 days before the program starts, that window closes when the first session begins.

After that, refunds depend on how much notice you give and how much of the program has been delivered. The full schedule, including what happens if we cancel a cohort, is set out in Refunds, withdrawals and rescheduling, which forms part of these terms.

8. Attendance, assessment and conduct

To complete a program and receive a certificate you need at least 80% attendance and at least 70% averaged across the assessed work. Assessment is by assignment, not by exam.

Classes are capped at 8 students with 2 instructors. That is a deliberate limit, and it is why late cancellations cost us a seat we cannot refill.

What we expect of you in the room, what happens when you miss a session, and the grounds on which someone can be asked to leave a program are all in Attendance and code of conduct.

9. What the certificate is, and what it is not

On successful completion you receive a professional skills certificate from Celegant Braiding Academy. For example, Professional Certificate in Braiding Foundations, or Professional Specialist Certificate in Single Braids (Knotless and Regular).

What it is. Documented evidence that you completed a stated number of supervised contact hours of hands-on training, to an assessed standard, issued by a working Edmonton braiding salon.

What it is not. It is not a provincial trade certificate. It is not a hairstylist licence or any other occupational licence. It is not a Red Seal endorsement. It is not apprenticeship credit or a pathway to journeyperson certification. It is not a government-recognised, government-approved or accredited credential. Celegant Braiding Academy is not an accredited institution and does not claim to be one. See Do you need a licence to braid hair in Alberta?

We can withdraw a certificate if it turns out it was issued on the strength of work that was not yours, or attendance that was not real.

10. Health, safety, models and photography

Braiding involves close physical contact and sustained tension on hair and scalp. Before your first session you complete a short health declaration, and you sign a waiver. You work on mannequin heads throughout. We do not use live models in training.

11. Our course materials

Every curriculum, handout, worksheet, slide, template, video and assessment brief we give you stays our property. We license it to you for your own learning, personally, permanently, and for nothing extra.

You may not share, sell, upload, republish or hand on our materials. You may not use them to teach other people, whether or not you charge for it. You may not record a class, in audio or video, without our written permission. Section 12 explains what you may do with what you learn, which is a different question.

Breaching this section is grounds for removal from a program without refund, and for withdrawal of a certificate.

12. What you may do with the skills

Anything you like. The techniques are yours to use, to charge for, and to build a business on. We do not ask for a non-compete, we do not take a share of what you earn, and we do not restrict where you work. The restriction in section 11 is about our documents and recordings, not about your hands.

13. Employer-funded and grant-funded places

If an employer, a salon or a grant programme pays for your place, then that payer is our counterparty for money, and any refund goes back to them, not to you. You are still personally bound by the attendance, conduct, health and consent terms, and you still own your certificate.

We will confirm attendance and completion to a payer who has asked for it and who you have agreed can receive it. Your assessed marks and your health declaration stay between you and us. Section 9 of the refunds policy covers what happens if funding is declined or withdrawn after you have enrolled.

14. The online program

Certified Salon Business Professional: The Empire Blueprint is delivered as recorded video, online and self-paced. It is not an in-person program and we never describe it as one.

  • Lifetime access means for as long as we offer the program, and in any event no less than 36 months from the date we give you access. If we ever retire it, we will give you at least 90 days notice and make the material available to download where our licences allow.
  • Part 2, Scaling Your Empire, has not been released. When it is released it is included at no extra cost for everyone who bought Part 1. We are not charging you again for it, and we are not going to pretend it already exists.
  • Access is personal to you. Do not share your login. Shared logins are deactivated.
  • Refund terms for this program are different from the in-person programs, because the content is delivered immediately. See section 10 of the refunds policy.

15. No guarantee of outcome

We do not guarantee employment, clients, income, business success, or any other specific result. Any figures anywhere on this site are illustrative arithmetic, not predictions, and not representative of typical results. No cohort has completed these programs yet, so we have no outcome data at all, and we are not going to invent any.

16. Educational content is not professional advice

Business, legal, tax, financial, health and scalp-safety content on this site and inside our programs is educational. It is not legal, tax, accounting, medical or business advice, and reading it does not create a professional relationship. Get advice about your own situation from someone qualified to give it.

17. Liability and indemnity

The full position is set out in Health, safety and liability. In short: we take responsibility for supervising the room properly; you take responsibility for following instruction and for your own belongings; our total liability to you is capped at what you paid us; and nothing in any of our terms limits our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, or takes away your rights under Alberta consumer protection legislation.

18. Privacy

What we collect, why, who we share it with and how long we keep it is set out in our Privacy Policy.

19. If something goes wrong

Tell us. There is a proper process, with names, stages and deadlines, in Complaints and dispute resolution. Please use it before you go anywhere else, because most things we can fix in a week.

20. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms. The terms that apply to your enrolment are the ones in force on the date we confirm your place, and we will keep a copy so there is no argument about it later. The version number and date at the top of this page change whenever anything substantive changes.

21. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the Province of Alberta and the federal laws of Canada that apply in Alberta. The courts of Alberta have jurisdiction. Nothing here removes any right you have under Alberta’s Consumer Protection Act or any other legislation that cannot be contracted out of.

22. The usual small print

  • If a court finds part of these terms unenforceable, the rest still stands.
  • If we do not enforce a term once, that does not mean we have given it up.
  • These terms, the documents listed in section 2, and your written enrolment confirmation are the whole agreement between us. Anything said in a phone call or a direct message does not vary them unless we put it in writing.
